Iraq's new Ambassador Mr Lukman Abdul-Rahim Abdul-Karim Faily handed his letter of credence to his majesty Akihito the Emperor of Japan on 25th of June 2010. Prior to the new Japan ambassadorial assignment, he served as an ambassador in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad, Iraq from the beginning of 2010.

Prior to his ambassadorial career, ambassador Faily had been working for twenty years in the Information Technology sector in various multi-national organisations in the United Kingdom. In the last ten years he had taken on senior managerial positions in two major American organisations, Ceridan Centrefile and later Electronic Data Systems, which is now part of Hewlett Packard. Prior to these two roles, ambassador Faily had taken on consultancy and team leading positions in various I.T. organisations.

In 1988, Ambassador Faily graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University (United Kingdom) with BSc Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. Later on ambassador Faily continued with his postgraduate studies and has since completed a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in Technology Management, followed by a Postgraduate Degree in Computing for Commerce and Industry.

Alongside his professional career, ambassador Faily was also a very active community leader within the Iraqi community in United Kingdom. He served as a trustee for a number of Iraqi non-governmental organisations. Ambassador Faily was also a very active member of the Iraqi opposition to the Saddam Hussain’s regime.

Ambassador Faily was born in Baghdad, Iraq in 1966. He is married to Mrs Lameis Faily and is now the father of three boys, Mahdi, Mohammed and Sermed. Ambassador Faily fluently speak English, Arabic and Kurdish.
