On Wednesday, 12 June 2013, Mr. Alaa Al-Hashimy, Ambassador of Iraq in Japan, received at the Embassy 2 high-school students from Hiroshima, in addition to 3 officials from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). This visit came as a part of the educational activity called “The Youth Ambassador Programme” organized by UNITAR, aiming at inspiring the young generations of Hiroshima in the international environment as youth ambassadors.
Ambassador Hashimy welcomed the guests and briefed the students on the Embassy’s diplomatic activities, Iraq-Japan bilateral relations and its cooperation, urging the youth ambassadors to explore the culturally-diverse world not only in English also in other foreign languages.
Also Mr. Hashimy clarified the difference of Ambassadors’ roles between 20th and 21st centuries.
This meeting was attended by Dr. Dhibian Hassan, First Secretary, who explained the Embassy’s organizational structure and roles for the students.
