A Commemorative Celebration on the Occasion of First Anniversary of Vicious Terrorism Attack on Foreign Ministry Headquarter

Foreign Ministry held at ten forty-eight on 19/8/.2010 a ceremony to mark the first commemoration of the terrorist attack, which claimed the lives forty-three martyrs of the ministry and injured nearly five hundred and also caused the total destruction of the Foreign ministry's buildings. The ceremonial program included reciting of verses from the Quran, and laying a wreath of flowers on the memorial of the martyrs next to 43 lighted candles that represents the number of martyrs of the tragic incident. The program included playing a military trumpet and reciting the Fatiha verse on the souls of the martyrs in addition to standing one minute of silence. The celebration included a speech given by Minister Zebari in which he confirmed the confronting of terrorist with determination that knows no rest and to stimulate all engineering, technical, and administrative effort , self-reliance and complete the reconstruction of the ministry in record time that lasted 9 months, and the re-opening of the ministry in a ceremony on 19 / 5 / 2010. The Minister stated that the ministry is a national monument that rises above everything, loyalty for the homeland, work for the homeland and nothing other than the homeland.  |
