Foreign Ministry's Statement on Completion of US Forces Withdrawal from Iraq on 31st Aug 2010 the United States of America completes the withdrawal of its forces from Iraq At the end of 31st Aug 2010, in accordance with the Agreement signed between the two countries about the withdrawal and organizing activities of the American forces during its temporary presence in Iraq on 17th Nov 2010 since the Iraqi forces has proved its ability to provide security all over Iraq.

The withdrawal of the American Forces does not mean the abandoning of US obligations stipulated in paragraph (1) of article 27 of the Agreement concerning assisting Iraq in case of any internal or external threats or an aggression against it, that violates Iraq's sovereignty, political independence, territorial integrity and democratic regime and to take the necessary measures against such threats.

At the time this withdrawal is to decrease existence of the American forces which meets demands of Iraqi sovereignty, the economic, political and cultural relations between the two countries will witness a huge progress through the activation of the Strategic Framework Agreement for the friendship and cooperation between the republic of Iraq and the United States of America signed at the 17th Nov 2008 in order to establish long term friendship and cooperation according to equality in sovereignty and principles stated at the UN Charter to serve common interests of both people and countries.

At this time, we express our appreciation for the United States' efforts in assisting Iraqi people to establish a democratic regime and forming a government according to the constitution, We are confident in the ability of our national forces in taking historic responsibility of protecting these gains, providing security and enhancing the rule of law.
