On Friday 7th of March 2008, H.E. Dr. Ghanim Al-Jumaily, the Iraqi Ambassador in Tokyo, has raised Iraq's new national flag over the chancery of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq/ Tokyo in an official ceremony. H.E. Dr. Al-Jumaily hoped this flag will be as new beginning for our beloved Iraq and for Iraqi people.

Diplomats, officials and local staffs of the Iraqi Embassy in Tokyo have attended the flag-raising ceremony.

The Iraqi Parliament has agreed on the new flag last January, which contains only the "ALLAH AKBAR" expression or "ALLAH is Great" but in different font "Kufi" and three stars were removed.
